Preparing for Your Appointment

Everything you need to do before your first appointment with us.

Please read this page before your first appointment. The two linked pages below are compulsory reading, and a little preparation makes your treatment safer and more comfortable.

Your consultation form & payment

Once you have chosen a time, please complete your consultation form. As soon as we receive it, we will send you a secure payment link to reserve your appointment. Your booking is confirmed once the consultation fee is paid.

Compulsory reading before your appointment

These two pages are an essential part of keeping your treatment safe. Please read both carefully before you attend:

  • Contraindications — conditions and medications that affect whether, or how, we can treat you.
  • Aftercare — how to care for your skin, and what to prepare and avoid before and after.

Finding us on the day

260 Pentonville Road, London N1 9JY — Room 3C.

You are welcome to wait in the downstairs waiting room, then come up to Room 3C one minute before your appointment time. If it is your first visit, please allow a few extra minutes to find us. See the map and directions.

How to prepare, starting two weeks before

  • Grow the hair out. Let the hair in the treatment area grow for 1 to 2 weeks, longer if needed, so it is long enough to treat (around 2 to 3mm).
  • Stop all other hair removal. No plucking, waxing, threading, epilating or depilatory creams, as these remove the hair from the follicle and make it impossible to treat. Shaving or trimming is fine.
  • Light exfoliation. Gentle exfoliation can help in the lead-up, but stop at least 2 weeks before your appointment, and only if your skin is clear and scab-free.
  • Daily SPF 50. Use a light, fragrance-free, non-tinted SPF 50 each day, especially where the area is exposed to sun.
  • Hydrate. Drink plenty of water in the days before, and especially in the 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Stop retinoids and strong actives. A minimum of 6 weeks before (bleaching cream a minimum of 4 weeks). See the contraindications page for the full list.
  • Avoid sunburn and sunbeds in the treatment area.

On the day

  • Come with clean skin and no make-up, lotions or oils on the area.
  • Eat something beforehand so you are comfortable, avoid alcohol for 24 hours, and go easy on caffeine.
  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing if we are treating a body area.
  • If you would like, you may apply a topical anaesthetic cream at home before you arrive. We do not numb in clinic.
  • Bring your GP letter if your consultation form indicated one is required.
  • Your consultation includes a patch test, so we can check how your skin responds before treatment.
